inspired by Edgar Allen Poe's 'The Bridal Ballad' And thus the words were spoken, And this the plighted vow, And, though my faith be broken, And, though my heart be broken, Here is a ring, as token That I am happy now ~ Edgar Allen Poe Designing a hauntingly beautiful and moody inspiration was a highlight! Stepping out of the normal 'pretty wedding' box, and allowing the team to stretch their creative muscles was the icing on the rich dark cake! Amber has stunningly captured this design. Every shot evokes the feeling of a haunting love story and we love it all so much. The venue, a sweet lovely church on the outskirts of Calgary, was the backdrop of our love story. Many thanks to Faith and the team at The Acreage for allowing our dark dream to take shape in their space. Our adoring real life love story couple. When we heard their story, we knew they were the perfect couple to play the roles of our wedding couple. Many thanks to Jill + James for bringing this haunting couple to life. Have you ever seen ambient lighting so perfectly framing a couple! Our absolute favourite lighting wizard, Kriya of Coven Creative created this magical lighting for this dream. It is hard to envision our pretty vintage pieces in such a haunting style, but once we have them pictured here...you can see the beauty in the moodiness too. A stunning amethyst stone in a vintage setting had to be a part of this inspiration. It just pulls all the haunting strings of my heart. The words hand lettered by Sam of Mountain Grove Studio, uttered over and over again as we worked away with the backdrop and this piece of stationery. The black vow books adorned with black silk ribbon from Curated Kits complimented the style so perfectly. Thank you so much Sam for all the words you provided to this inspiration. The table wasn't complete without a beautiful centrepiece by Rhonda of Creative Edge Florals. As always, Rhonda's art takes on a life of its own, and we were all amazed at how these rich dark tones + blooms captured the haunting love story so well. The enchanted cake, so beautifully crafted by Madison of Modern Bake fit the mood and tones so well. Deep dark amethyst and black topped with fresh florals. A fresh detail we love to share in our inspiration shoots is the food. Thank you to Food Works for sharing their culinary world with us for a day. Hair and makeup by the wonderful team at Mountain Beauties accentuated the true beauty of our model, Jill. Such a pleasure to work with Joanne and her team of pros. Jewelry provided by Alberta Diamond Exchange. Thanks so much to the team at ADX for seeing the visions we bring to you, and trusting us to bring it to life. If ever there was a perfect gown so suited for an inspiration shoot, it is this designer beauty from Durand Bridal here in Calgary. The black lace, and appliqué are perfection, and the mood...oh my! Ed Williams Menswear does it again. Perfectly styled suit and accessories for our groom style. Time for dessert...and a pop of champagne. The ring is on my hand, And the wreath is on my brow; Satin and jewels grand Are all at my command, And I am happy now. ~ Edgar Allen Poe Bold, haunting designs. Deep rooted love story. Moody, eerie style. We hope you enjoy this memorable inspiration and remember to bring your own style to your event. ~H Vendor Team: photographer Captured In Amber Photography // designer Heather Johnston Creative // florals Creative Edge Florals // lighting production Coven Creative // gown Durand Bridal // suit Ed Williams Menswear // jewelry Alberta Diamond Exchange // hmua Mountain Beauties // venue The Acreage // hand letterer Mountain Gove Studio // cake Modern Bake // caterer Food Works // styling kit Curated Kits // champagne Charton Hobbs // models Jill + James |
