Happy for summer fun to begin..yes!
Happy to not have to make packed lunches for a couple of months...yes!!
Sad to have another one of my boys leave the school we have come to love so much from our very first day almost 6 years ago!
Hunter is in grade six...for three more days that is...and I'm feeling very full of mixed emotions. He loves his school, his friends, and his teachers. They have made the biggest difference in our world. We moved to Calgary from Halifax in October 2008, and on the very first day of school, both boys came running to me after the bell to tell me they had new best friends! I tear up just thinking about that day. We have had, truly, the best experience in our elementary school. We involve ourselves in as much as we can in the community, because we love it so. The kids have made many friends since that first day, but I am quite proud to say, they are still best buds with those two boys (Ethan & Charlie) that made them feel so welcome on their fist day of school here. The teachers are the best. I could go on and on about them, but all that is needed is to say they are the best! It makes me feel so good to know that I entrust my boys to these amazing people...from our principle to their librarian, french & music teachers to lunch room supervisors...and especially, their day to day teachers. We have had the fortune to have had teachers teach up to three of our boys...this year, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the fourth to go through a certain teacher's room.
So, tomorrow afternoon, I will sit, with my co-parents and friends...because, we have become just that...we all parent these kids together, and we have all become friends over the years. We will laugh and cry together tomorrow, and watch our kids accept their certificates from elementary school, and start the journey into Junior High.
We set the gym up this afternoon...and I had to hold back the tears then...tomorrow there will be no holding back I'm afraid...I will be bursting with pride, not only for my Hunter, but for all the kids I've watched grow from those little 5 & 6 year olds, into these fine young people!
